Goooood Morning Potty People!
We hope you all had a great Halloween weekend… but enough with the past… Welcome to November!
We love this time of year, the leaves changing color creating magical scenic tapestries that feels like you are in a painting…
…That is unless you are talking about Jens Haaning’s paintings…
Which brings us to our Main Story of the Week courtesy of the Kunsten Museum of Modern Art in Aalborg, Denmark!
We will admit, we have an appreciation for art here POTTYMINTS…
But when it comes to certain types of museums… with more abstract, or modern artwork… we assume like many of you reading this, we stand there, look interested and pretend like we know what the hell we are looking at
There are many times where we find ourselves asking - “Is this really considered Art?”
This is one of those instances.
You see, Haaning was commissioned to create reproductions of two of his works, which had used framed cash to represent the average annual salaries of an Austrian and a Dane -- in euros and Danish krone respectively.
To do this, the Kunsten Museum loaned Haaning more than Half a Million Danish Kroner (or $84,000 US Dollars) to use for the art-piece – as part of an art exhibit entitled “Work It Out”, which explores people’s relationship with work.
After a couple of weeks, Haaning sent two large crates to the museum, as it prepared to mount the work-themed show that opened that weekend.
…But when staff members opened the boxes, they were surprised to find Two Blank Canvases
Haaning says the blank canvases make up a new work of art — titled "Take the Money and Run" — that he calls a commentary on poor wages.
"The work is that I have taken their money," Haaning stated.
"I don't see that I have stolen money... I have created an art piece, which is maybe 10 or 100 times better than what we had planned. What is the problem?"
Haaning said he has no plans to return the money and is "not worried" about possible consequences.
The Museum CEO, Lasse Andersson said the artist has until January, when the exhibition ends, to repay the loan, after which the museum will consider legal action.
For now, the museum is displaying "Take the Money and Run" as it is, putting it on a platform to be considered and critiqued.
Not to worry, this is a free Bathroom Blog… so we feel you are getting your money’s worth!
Let’s get into this week’s POTTY PICKS!
Growing up in New York City, with multiple apartment units on every floor, it’s impossible to not know your neighbors.
After all, you will be hearing every movement they make through the thin apartment walls for the duration of your lease!
While most neighbors are very kind and understanding, there are some that don’t seem to understand that there is someone living in the apartment beneath them.
True Story: When we were kids, our family found out that we were living underneath an apartment that was hosting Tap Dance Classes!
This Weeks Video of the Week comes from Above Average in a sketch called: “Everyone’s Upstairs Neighbors”
This week we wanted to feature one of our favorite artists/producers – Kaytranada
Born in Haiti, and then by way of Montreal, Kaytranada has gone on to form his own unique sound and style, that can only be heard to be understood.
We assure you, this week, may be one of our best Potty Picks to date!
Enjoy 5 of our favorite songs and remixes from Kaytranada!
During games, fans are able to do whatever they want (like go to the bathroom), whenever they want.
Athletes, coaches and broadcasters, on the other hand, cannot. They have to pick their moments.
Unfortunately for Fox broadcaster Joe Buck, he once found himself in a spot where he couldn't hold his bladder during a game.
That became an even bigger problem when he got stage fright during a commercial break...and found himself still having to go to the bathroom.
No worries—Buck can multitask… listen to him re-tell the story here!
