Gooooood Morning POTTY People!Â
Take a quick moment and look at the date… Monday, July 25thÂ
Can someone please tell Summer to slow down!Â
It’s true, in case the recent heat wave didnt make itself clear… Summer is VERY much here!Â
While some of us have the luxury of enjoying their Summer vacations, others choose to work during the months off - and a common job is being a Summer Camp Counselor!Â
Fun fact, Suzanna and I were both BIG Summer Camp people, and after being campers for years, we even stayed on as counselors!Â
We decided, we would dedicate this blog to all things Summer Camp!Â
As anyone who has attended Visiting Day at the Camp midpoint can attest - some counselors are FAR too energetic and happy… to the point where you question their sanityÂ
BUT, as we learned during our orientation period before the campers arrived… this positive attitude was a small element of something bigger… a philosophy that has transformed people’s lives
It's called the FISH! Philosophy… named after what has now become one of the most famous fish shops in the world… Pike Place Fish Market in Seattle, WashingtonÂ
Using this philosophy, this stinky, cold, typically unattractive profession… has become a world wide phenomenon, and a destination for anyone visiting Seattle.Â
For this week’s Main Story, we share with you the Fish Philosophy, as we take a look at Pike Place Fish Market… and their FLYING Fish Business!Â
I know what you are thinking… a World Famous Fish shop? Sure…Â
But we assure you, you have never seen a Fish shop like this before…Â
How does one become a World Famous Fish Shop? Great Question!Â
You offer a one of a kind, unique, fun and quality experience - and Pike Place Fish Market has mastered this by implementing their Fish Philosophy!Â
It involved 4 main practices:Â
-
Be There: Be emotionally present for people. It’s a powerful message of respect that improves communication and strengthens relationships.
-
Play: Tap into your natural way of being creative, enthusiastic and having fun.
-
Make Their Day: Find simple ways to serve or delight people in a meaningful, memorable way.
- Choose Your Attitude: Take responsibility for how you respond to what life throws at you. Your choice affects others.
Using these 4 rules, these fishmongers put on a SHOW for their customers - take the mundane experience of getting salmon… and turning it into a memorable experience that keeps them coming back!Â
How do they do this? They implement the Fish Philosophy… and they throw their fish!Â
Yes, you read that correctly, they throw the purchased fish… flying fish!Â
As you can see, this is no ordinary fish shop, they take the ordinary and make it extraordinary!Â
We implore each of you reading this blog to think about these 4 practices, and think of ways you can implement them into your daily life!Â
It has greatly improved our lives, and we think it can do the same for you!Â
We assure you… if it works for a Fish Market Salesperson… it will work for you too!Â
Enough floundering… lets get into this week’s Potty Picks:Â
Sticking with the Summer Camp theme of this weeks blog - we wanted to share with you a video and story about a summer camp experience…Â
…. From none other than Seth Rogen… speaking to… of course… Kelly Clarkson.Â
While this pairing alone is worthy of your attention - so too is this hysterical story told beautifully by Seth Rogen
Sit back relax, and enjoy our Video of the Week!Â
Â
Summer Jams are quite possibly our favorite genre of music…Â
And while i know some of you are saying, “Summer Jams” are not a genre of musicÂ
To those people we say… Check out this week’s POTTY Picks!Â
We chose 5 of our favorite Summer Jams for your ears this week, featuring music from:Â
Well, we tried to look for a Bathroom related story that had to do with Summer Camps… but we were unsuccessful…Â
NOT TO WORRY, we found a story that we believe is worthy of your attentionÂ
You see, this past week there was a Cincinnati Woman that was arrested after kicking down another woman's shower door… and then beating her with a toilet seat.Â
While we do not condone any violence, especially Potty related violence… we have to ask…Â
Seriously, who hits someone with a toilet seat?Â
Like, first and foremost… Was the toilet seat not attached to the toilet? What was this fight over? Who fights someone in the shower?Â
We have so many questions, and very few answers… so we will leave the details up to your imagination!Â
___
Thank you all for joining us for our Summer Camp episode of Potty Time with POTTYMINTS!Â
We hope you all enjoyed reading it, learned something new, and will hopefully use some of what we discussed in your everyday life…Â
Not so much the beating someone with a toilet seat part… but the other stuff! Haha!Â
As you know, we conclude our blog every week with a quote for the week ahead, and sticking with our tradition, we wanted to feature a quote about Summer
This quote comes from an anonymous source:Â
"Camping: The art of getting closer to nature while getting farther away from the nearest cold beverage, hot shower, and flush toilet."
We hope you all have a fantastic week, make sure to make a point of going outside and getting some sunshine! You, your mind, and your body with thank you!Â
Have a great week!Â
