Good Morning Potty People!
We figured since we are now one week into the Summer Olympics, that we would dedicate this week’s blog to the Olympic games!
Now, if you are anything like us, you are thinking to yourself… Is now really the best time to be holding a Global Sporting Event?
Our answer is simple… No
But after a couple of days of watching Olympic Ping Pong, Skateboarding and Swimming competition… we are absolutely hooked!
For this week’s main story, we wanted to feature one of the greatest stories in Olympic History – Of course, we are talking about the story of the 1988 Jamaican Bobsled Team.
For many of you reading this, you may remember watching this story being told in the Disney classic, “Cool Runnings” (which we couldn’t recommend more for the whole family!) – but we assure you there is more than the film depicts!
In short, two American businessmen living in Jamaica watched a local pushcart derby, and noticed the resemblance to sports like bobsledding. You mix that with the Jamaican athleticism and they thought it could work with some of our track athletes.
They couldn’t get any track athletes to sign up… so they went to the Army and essentially forced them into giving it a shot.
After training for months in Austria, Jamaica and Lake Placid, NY – the team arrived at the Olympic games… without a bobsled.
They used borrowed equipment, and during training one of their teammates got injured… leaving them one man short for the 4 person Bobsled.
In 3 days, they taught the brother of one of the team members everything they knew about bobsledding… and his first ever Bobsled race or experience, was on the track at the 1988 Olympic Games.
While the team would go onto crash on their final Olympic run, the entire Olympic community gravitated toward these like-able guys and they ultimately couldn’t leave the Olympic Village for fear of getting mobbed by adoring fans!
Because of these brave Jamaican men, Jamaica has now been represented at six Olympic Games in Bobsledding!
Lastly, much to my disappointment, the classic quote “Feel the Rhythm! Feel the Rhyme! Get on up, it's bobsled time! Cool Runnings!” … was made up for the film and never actually happened… #childhoodruined
“Take Your Marks… Get Set… GO!” lets race into this week’s POTTY Picks!
We all know the incredible stories of Olympic Glory…
Simone Biles becoming the greatest gymnast in history…
Michael Phelps winning 28 Medals, becoming the most decorated Olympian of all time…
But many people seem to forget an *arguably* more impressive performance… and that brings us to our Video of the Week courtesy of the Philippines High Diving team!
You see, the Philippines are not known for their diving prowess… and while their attitudes toward the sport are truly admirable… their skill in high diving is not.
You MUST see this video here… please enjoy!
As you may have seen, the Philippines scored a combined score of “0”… but we absolutely love that they support each other in this clearly terrible and uncomfortable moment…
Sometimes… you gotta laugh through the pain!
In honor of this week’s Olympics themed blog, we figured we would take it old school to one of our favorite compilation Cd’s… “Jock Jams”!
These songs are all the stadium classics that make Parents and Kids a like do virtually anything to get on the big screen!
This week we feature some Gold Medal Tunes from: Naughty By Nature, Technotronic, Montell Jordan, The Outthere Brothers, Tito Nieves!
The Olympics aren’t the only competition that is heating up at the moment… which brings us to our Bathroom Moment of the Week!
We present to you… The “Cintas’ Americas Best Restroom” Competition!
Not only is this competition absolutely incredible, but as born and bred New Yorkers… we are shocked to see that JFK Airport’s Terminal 4 Bathroom is a finalist! But we are not going to lie… the competition looks stiff!
Check out all of these gorgeous Bathrooms and vote for your favorite here: https://www.bestrestroom.com/vote/
(Voting ends on August 20th)

We end our weekly blogs with a quote that we can all use as a source of inspiration, motivation and determination for the week ahead!
This week, in honor of her incredible bravery focusing on her mental health rather than the Olympic Games, this weeks quote comes from Gold Medal Olympic Gymnast, Simone Biles.
