Gooooood Morning POTTY PEOPLE!
Let us be some of the first to wish you all a Happy July 4th Weekend!
We don’t know about you, but we think there is simply nothing more American than drinking alcohol on a Monday!
We always questioned those people that put alcohol in their morning coffee… but out of respect for July 4th, it simply feels Un-American to do otherwise.
This week, since we get a day off from work for simply being American, we decided that we would dedicate this week’s blog to July 4th!
So, get ready for this week’s special July 4th Themed “Potty Time with POTTYMINTS”!
Did you know that the American Flag we now use, was created by a 17-year-old for an American History Class?
Meet Bob Heft, who during his Junior year of High School in 1958, created a 50 star American Flag…
But there was one issue… there were only 48 States at the time
Heft, a good student, realized that Hawaii and Alaska would soon become states and used two of the stars from an old flag, and had his Mom sew them onto his updated American Flag!
His teacher was unimpressed, and gave him... a “B-“
“Why you got so many stars? You don't even know how many states we have"
Heft was upset, but his teacher said “If you don't like the grade, get it accepted in Washington then come back and see me. I might consider changing the grade."
Two years later… 21 letters to the Whitehouse later… 18 Phone Calls later…
President Eisenhower gave him a phone call and told him that his design would be made official
Eisenhower invited Heft to come to Washington, D.C., for a ceremony for the adoption of Heft's flag. His design was made official on July 4, 1960.
Heft's teacher honored his promise. "I guess if it is good enough for Washington, it's good enough for me," Heft remembers his teacher saying. "I hereby change the grade to an A."
Let’s get this July 4th Party Going with this week’s Potty Picks!
Not only is this July 4th… but this may also be your first time back out in public with others since the Covid Pandemic began!
Not to worry, the social awkwardness of meeting complete strangers is very much alive and well!
In order to remind ourselves of what social events were like prior to us being terrified to see each other in person… we decided to share with you our Video of the Week courtesy of the good people at College Humor!
This video is simply too accurate…
Oh say… Can you see our July 4th POTTY PICKS?
This week, in honor of the July 4th Holiday – we decided to treat this week’s song curation like you handle choosing a cheese for a Grilled Cheese… “keep it American”
Check out our 5 POTTY PICKS, with classic American tunes from: Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Estelle and Kanye West, Bruce Springsteen and Don McLean!
If you haven’t already heard, Jeff Bezos, founder and executive chairman of Amazon is going to space aboard his very own spaceship called the “Blue Origin”
While some people choose to work on their tan in Florida… The world’s richest man decides to get his tan… by flying on a spaceship and tanning close to the sun!
For this week’s Bathroom Moment of the Week, we look past the incredible technological ingenuity of the spaceship… and instead focus on the space ships Bathroom.
While the user will still have to deal with the challenge that is using the Bathroom with zero gravity, the reward may be the best bathroom view in human history.
The Bathroom aboard the ship is located within a glass dome, called a cupola, on the nose of the capsule with 360-Degree views of space!
Absolutely insane! It gives new meaning to the word “Public Restroom” !
Thank you for reading this week’s Potty Time with POTTYMINTS, believe it or not, this is our 13th episode!
We truly cannot believe the response to the blog! We were initially hesitant to think people would read a Bathroom Blog, but we are so happy you did!
If you have been reading since episode one, we appreciate your support so much! Thanks for growing with us!
And for those of you reading for the first time… Welcome to the POTTY People! We meet up here on Mondays for a brand-new blog to start the week!
This week, we wanted to stick with our July 4th theme and highlight a quote from the 32nd President of the United States, Franklin D. Roosevelt.
On behalf of all of us here at POTTYMINTS, we want to wish you and your family a Happy July 4th Weekend!
